Crushed limestone is a go-to sub-base material across a wide range of construction applications. Roads and car parks rely on it as a foundational layer beneath tarmac or concrete, where its compaction properties and load-bearing capability really come into their own. How Is It Different From Limestone Aggregate?
It's a question worth addressing early because the two do get confused.
Limestone aggregate is graded to produce clean, consistent particle sizes, which is what gives it the neat, uniform appearance that works well on driveways, pathways and decorative surfaces. Crushed limestone, by contrast, is a more angular, irregular material that includes a range of particle sizes in the same product. It isn't designed to look good at surface level. It's designed to compact tightly, lock together under pressure and form a dense, stable base layer beneath whatever is being built on top.
Think of limestone aggregate as the material you see, and crushed limestone as the material doing the structural work underneath.
