Gravel Aggregate

The gravel aggregate we supply sits in the 10-20mm size range, which puts it in a sweet spot for a lot of common outdoor projects. It's large enough to stay put underfoot and drain well, but not so chunky that it becomes awkward to walk on or difficult to spread. It has a natural, slightly rustic look to it that suits a lot of garden and driveway settings, and it's the kind of material that tends to age well rather than looking tired after a couple of seasons.

It's worth saying upfront that this isn't a sub-base material. Gravel sits at the surface level, and that's where it does its best work. If you're planning a driveway or path, you'd typically still want a compacted sub-base beneath it,  MOT Type 1 being the obvious candidate, before the gravel goes down on top.

Driveways and garden paths are where most of our gravel orders are headed, and it's easy to understand why. It drains brilliantly, it looks smart, and there's almost no maintenance involved once it's down. There's also the noise factor, gravel crunches when you walk on it, which sounds like a small thing but this offers an added layer of security for a premises.

As well as driveways, gravel is utilised in a lot in garden projects. Around planting beds, along borders, under pergolas or just as a clean ground cover in areas where you'd rather not be mowing or weeding. Stick a membrane down underneath, and it pretty much takes care of itself, which for a lot of people is the main appeal.
